History and philosophy of science - The history and philosophy of science (HPS) is an academic discipline that encompasses the philosophy of science and the history of science. Although many scholars in the field are trained primarily as historians or philosophers, there are degree-granting departments of HPS at several prominent universities (see below). Max Planck Institute for the History of Science - The Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin was established in March 1994. Its research is primarily devoted to a theoretically oriented history of science, principally of the natural sciences, but with methodological perspectives drawn from the cognitive sciences and from cultural history. History of science and technology - The history of science and technology (HST) is a field of history which examines how humanity's understanding of science and technology has changed over the millennia. Without this understanding, development of new technologies would have been improbable. History of Science Society - The History of Science Society (HSS) is the primary professional society for the academic study of the history of science, founded in 1924 by George Sarton. They have over 3,000 members worldwide, and publish the quarterly journal Isis as well as the yearly Osiris, and have a well-attended yearly conference.

The position of platonism in the field of cognitive science: Amos Tversky, Daniel Kahneman, and others challenged the strict Western/dualist view of subject/object relations that had dominated mathematics since Descartes, with a growing consensus that human cognition shared a great deal of bias. It is notable mostly for the dialogue it has sparked between mathematicians, linguists and psychologists about the grounding of proofs. Postmodern thought diverged from mathematical thinking sharply, and body philosophers such as Marilyn Waring and John Zerzan began to grow in the series can be read as a set or individually Each book packed with 256 pages of thought-provoking ideas, math and science concepts, history and literature Character- and idea-driven narratives that read like an adventure story 300 illustrations in each book, including original art and contemporary photographs Sidebars highlight fascinating facts and ideas of related interest Call-outs define unfamiliar words and build vocabulary Suggestions for further reading on many topics Everybody has math and science history.
